Sylvania has bolstered its industry-leading directional lamp offering with the addition of the new RefLED Superia Retro range designed for use in residential, hospitality and retail spaces. Comprising the RefLED Superia Retro ES50 and MR16, the new range combines the look and feel of traditional halogen lamps with the energy efficiency of the latest LED technology.

With a faceted glass design, the new RefLED Superia Retro range enables the full front face of the lens to light up without any visible heat sink. Recreating the backlight effect of halogen dichroic lamps, the range is suitable for use in any colour downlight or spotlight without colours clashing between lamp and fixture. Unlike conventional LED lamps, the range also offers a wide aperture of light.

The range is available in three colour temperatures (2700 K, 3000 K and 4000 K) providing customers with an array of light colour options to meet the needs for residential, hospitality and retail applications. With 25,000 hours lifetime, over 100,000 switching cycles and lumen efficacy of up to 97lm/W, the ES50 and MR16 are the ideal energy efficient replacement for traditional halogen lamps. The RefLED Superia Retro ES50 is suitable for both open and enclosed applications thanks to COOLFIT functionality that protect the lamp from overheating.

Anuj Vaui, Senior Product Line Manager at Sylvania says: “At a time when energy bills are rising, the pressure for homeowners to reduce monthly outgoings, and hotels, bars and restaurants, in addition to retailers to boost the bottom line, continues to grow. What’s more, the continued drive of the 2010 Energy Performance of Buildings Directive means that now is the time to rethink the role lighting plays in your home or business.

“The addition of the new RefLED Superia Retro range to our portfolio of directional lamps will enable customers to create the perfect ambience in a hospitality environment, a relaxing atmosphere at home and a more appealing retail space. They can achieve the aesthetic of a traditional directional lamp, but also benefit from the significant savings provided by LED.”

With a five year warranty as standard, the new range is available with dimmable and non-dimmable options.
